We specialise in Induction & Flame Hardening of pins, gears, rollers, sheaves and other machined parts.
Global Steel Heat Treatment has been servicing mining and industrial customers for more than 40 years. We specialise in Induction & Flame Hardening of pins, gears, rollers, sheaves & other machined parts.
With the ability to harden shafts up to 400mm diameter and 4 metres long, our facility has one of the largest capacities in the Australian market.
We have the flexibility to provide minimum turn-around in critical breakdown situations.
Working with our parent Company, Colmar Engineering Pty Limited, we can also supply complete parts heat treated to your exact specification. We offer non-destructive testing on all our processed parts and Certification when required.
Shot peening is a cold surface treatment used to prevent fatigue, stress corrosion failures and prolong the life of a machine part.
The process involves striking the treated surface with multiple high-velocity shots creating overlapping dimples or compression stresses that work to strengthen the surface of the part. We can shot peen parts up to 30kg in weight.
Stress relieving is a technique used to remove or reduce the internal stresses created in metal during the original manufacturing process and is usually performed after rough machining but before final machining or other finishing operations. Parts that have tight dimensional tolerances require stress relieving to maintain those tolerances during subsequent processing. Welded fabrications can also be stress relieved to removing or reducing the residual stresses generated by the welding process and to improve the dimensional stability of weldments.
Tempering is a heat treatment technique used to increase toughness. Normally performed after the induction/flame hardening and quenching process to achieve the desired hardness/toughness ratio.
We can temper parts up to 1500mm x 1200mm.
Flame hardening is a flexible and cost-effective technique suitable for more complex steel shapes with heat applied directly to the surface using an oxyacetylene burner.
We can;
Induction hardening is a method of quickly and selectively hardening the surface of a steel part using specially designed coils to induce the heat via an electromagnetic field.
We can design and manufacture induction coils to suit parts of all shapes and sizes and specialise in;
Shot Peening
Stress Relieving
Tempering
Flame Hardening

Kim/Anthony/Noel,
I would just like to pass on our appreciation for the support you provide for Komatsu!
During a meeting today Julie shared that your communications, willingness to collaborate on issues, on time delivery performance on timeliness on responding is of a high standard and greatly supports the working relationship we have with Colmar.
